Surf this weekend...
Our next run of SSW swell (195-210) fills in and looks best this weekend, the 22nd-23rd (with long period energy on the rise at focal points throughout the afternoon on Friday). By the weekend, look for waist-chest high surf at many exposed breaks. Standouts, again mainly in Orange County, hit shoulder-head high+ sets on occasion.
Beyond that, it looks like an even better SSW swell (190-205) will fill in Sunday the 23rd, looks best Monday the 24th, before easing by Tuesday the 25th and through mid next week. By Monday the 25th it looks like the better breaks will see chest-shoulder high surf, while standouts of OC pick up head high to overhead sets. Stay tuned, we’ll be tracking this swell through the SPAC over the next few days.
TROPICS: Tropical Depression 12E is now roughly 670 miles SSE of the Baja tip and moving WNW around 10kts. TD 12E is expected to become Tropical Strom Ivo by Wednesday morning as she takes a more NNW to N heading and strengthens in the next 24-72 hours. If the future TS Ivo behaves as forecast in the next couple days, it looks like we’ll see a small SSE swell (160-165+) build Saturday and likely best by Sunday. Waist-chest high+ surf looks possible at the better breaks, which will largely mix in with the expected Southern Hemi swell. Stay tuned.
