3rd Annual Donkey Contest is On!!

OK.... It is on.

We are holding the 3rd Annual Donkey Contest this weekend.

It is VERY important that we get a headcount for competitors by Friday. Please respond to this post ASAP and let us know if you will be competing.

Surfline says there will be waves and the conditions (Santa Ana winds) + 3-4ft surf should provide excellent contestable conditions.

Surfline Forecast: FAIR+ SURF: 2-3 ft - knee to waist high occasionally 4 ft. and fair+ conditions. NW holds and SW swells eases.

Date: This Saturday, November 3rd

Location: Campgrounds (aka hole-in-the-fence), South Carlsbad State Beach

Start Time: TBD

We have reserved a camping spot that can hold up to 8 people for sleeping, and up to 3 cars. Our camping spot is #174 and is directly above the main peak. This location is excellent for filming and hanging out, and anyone who wants to camp SAT night please let me know.

Our goal is to run an ASP format for the heats: 1st round 3per heat, #1 advances to round 3, #2-#3 go to round 2 which is 2 competitors per heat. All heats from round 2 to the final are man on man.

Please remember that the goal of the donkey contest is to HAVE FUN and provide a level playing field for all competitors so that in theory the worst competitor has an opportunity to win. We do our best to accomplish this by handicapping the scoring system and using a weighted draft to select the draw of the first round.

Invoice Correction

I spoke with Anthony from Kandui today and the balance on our trip is not due until May 8th... He said he is flexible and a payment anytime in may will be fine.

Kandui will also accept incremental payments between now and then for those who want an installment plan. They did request the payments be at least a few hundred dollars each.

Geoff Brantley has been added to the trip attendee's list as Jason Erwin will not be able to make it.

Looking forward to seeing your group out here next year… I spoke with Gina and as of right now we have changed the Surfline discount to $150 for 2008 and are waiting for them to change it on their site… Our typical group size is 8 people, you guys have ten so to make things simple we will offer a base price of $2610 per person and $150 more per person in your group regardless of whether they have Surfline or not for a final total of $2460 per person.

I will be home on the 10th and will catch up with you then if you have any questions… We’ve taken a lot of great new photos of the umas and the resort that I will post on the website when I get back.

Please note that you guys will have 6 people staying in uma #7 which is three large bedrooms and a living room in between… I will try to schedule the extra two people their own uma for part of your stay.

Booking Today!!! Surfline Members Save $300

Hi all,

We are all making our deposits today for the Mentawais trip. We are booking at Kandui. The dates we will be on the island are July 8th to July 19th. We Travel from July 6th to July 20th and we cross the international dateline on the way there and loose a "day".

Be sure to get a Surfline premium membership if you don't have one ($60) as you get $300 dollars off your reservation (a savings of $240) if you are a premium member. The membership does need to be your own memebership, not a shared account.
